Display Energy Certificates (DECs) - Public Building Compliance

Accredited Display Energy Certificates and Advisory Reports for public buildings over 250m2 in England, Wales, and Northern Ireland.

Overview

Display Energy Certificates (DECs) are a legal requirement for public buildings with a total useful floor area over 250m2 that are occupied by a public authority and frequently visited by the public. Unlike EPCs which assess theoretical performance, DECs show the actual energy consumption of a building based on metered data. Buildings over 1,000m2 require annual renewal, while those between 250-1,000m2 require renewal every 10 years. An Advisory Report (AR) must accompany each DEC, identifying practical energy efficiency improvements.
